Located in Alexandra/Portsdown Road area are some Black & White Bungalow (1900 to 1930’s). These houses, built during the colonial era are named after their colour scheme of white walls and black wood exteriors. These houses are especially popular with the expatriate community as they are often quite spacious and come with a garden. During the 2nd world war, these houses were built to house the British generals and governors and later became home to many Japanese generals.

Seeing these photos bring back memories. B&W houses will always hold a special place in my heart. Afterall I lived in one myself for more than 10 years. I've always wondered if one day I will be able to stay in Seletar Camp again. That would be a dream come true.
