Completed another Blurb book, this time with an unusual content. Pretty happy with how the white cover turns out. I feel that image wrap still provides the best visual impact.
The premium paper is worth the extra cost.
The layout template in BookSmart allows a quick and effective layout.

Blurb book Arrived
Making a book has never been easier, thanks to BLURB. The software has lots of practical templates and a step by step guide to layout the book. Blurb uses the HP Indigo 5500, in my opinion a very good printer. You can download the HP ICC profile here, so you can soft proof the book before print.
Blurb has recently launch the Professional Book Production Program. Readmore
The Blurb book arrived, took only 10 days for print&delivery! Secured packaging.

Overall quite happy but a few things to note.
Specs.
1. I am using only 180 dpi for the 7 x 7 inch book. Although the recommended is 300dpi!
2. Most of the images are taken without flash on my Canon IXUS 860. In the original photo, noise is visible at Iso400 and above. Why I am indicating this is bcos my image source is not in the best quality. The Canon IXUS 860 takes great images in daylight but under low light conditions, the noise is clearly visible.
On the book
1. Overall feel is good, especially when you pay only USD$26 to personalize a book.
2. All images appear darker. Color should not be accurate as the screen is not calibrated.
3. Some of the images are not as sharp (most likely due to the lower resolution)
4. Binding and page trimming are perfect but only time will tell if the book can keep intact!

Dad got the book in the evening! Guess he never expect this is possible!

New month and the birth of a New logo
Time flies and we are into February.
Here a interesting finding: January 24 is known as the Worst day of the year, according to a research in UK.
1. People realized they have broken or not fulfilled their new year resolutions.
2. Heavily in debt from holiday spending
3. End of a long break...read on
on a different note, I have started to work on a new logo for omegaforest, something I have in mind but have yet it to action.

Celest is my name!
It has been a while since I last drawn a portrait illustration. Started with using Freehand in school and slowly switched to Illustrator. With the acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe in 2005, Adobe officially announced in May 2007 that it would discontinue development and support of Freehand!

First Customized Album
Collected the Tokyo album today. Pretty impressed with the workmanship. There are a no. of advantages to customizing, layout the images according to ones needs, selecting the cover, text and description input etc.

Magazine style layout seems to be the in thing these days. There are a lot more shops and online stores that allows customizing and printing of books/albums. Checkout Blurb
it's a difficult choice to select and layout the images, unless you do not have any budget constrain.
Images are great to view in BIG format, especially when there are lots of details and activities in it.

moleskine
moleskine
first saw these pocket size booklet @ pageone. was wondering what the difference bet. these little guys compared to those sketchbook we find on the shelves?
From the website: " Originally produced by small French bookbinders who supplied the Parisian stationery shops frequented by the international avant-garde, by the end of the twentieth century the Moleskine notebook was no longer available. In 1986, the last manufacturer of Moleskine, a family operation in Tours, closed its shutters forever. "
