Bali Day 7

13Feb09

  1. Streets of Kuta
  2. Lunch at Made Warung & Satria Warung
  3. Ulu Watu
Drove along the streets of Kuta. The ex-Sari Club on the right, still vacant after so many years. The bomb exploded at the spot just in front of our car.

The Memorial across the street.

Kuta's beach. During the rainy season, the waves are short and not suitable for surfing

Made Warung @ Seminyak

The villa provides a full set of utensils, great for takeways!

Nasir Campur @ Satria Warung. A local mixed rice that cost on Rp18,000.

Monkey @ Ulu Watu. They are rather bold as compared to those at Monkey Forest, Ubud.

Cliff formation at the right of the temple.

The Kecak dance arena with the temple at the backdrop.

Bali Day 6

12Feb09

  1. Check Out
  2. Sukawati Market
  3. Check in Uma Sapna
  4. Tanah Lot
We checkout from Santi Mandela Villa and move closer to the city, stopping by the local Sukawati Market. This is a good place to experience local lifestyle, from food, art to people.

Daily offering at the market.

Another resort with great landscaping.

Lunch at a local Muslim warung. They will present all the dishes on the table and you only pay for what you eat. The untouch dishes are sent back after the meal!

Checked in to Uma Sapna, a boutique Villa at Seminak. The 2 bedrooms villa have their own bedroom, living area, kitchen and room.

Cloudy day at Tanah Lot. There's a few temple within the compound.

Bali Day 5

11Feb09

  1. Lunch at Bumi Warung
  2. Massage at Sendona Spa
  3. Kecak Dance
  4. Dinner at Sanur, Lotus Cafe
Slowing down today's pace as we head for Sedona Spa. The prices are incredibly low as compared to Singapore. A 1.5hrs massage cost around SGD$10. The spa is clean but do not expect a 5star interior decor.

Lunch at Bumi Warung. Authentic Balinese food with great garden setting.

Kecak dance at Sanur.

Dinner at Lotus Pond Restaurant, Sanur. Our 3rd Lotus restaurant in Bali. We are the only diner on that nite as Feburary is a low tourist season in Bali.

Bali Day 4

10Feb09

  1. Pura Taman Ayun
  2. Durian Stop
  3. Lunch @ Saranam, Pacung rice terrace
  4. Bedugul- Beratan Lake & Ulun Danu Temple & Food + Vegatable Mkt.
  5. Antonia Blanco gallery
  6. Dinner @ Ibu Oka Babi Guling
  7. Legong Dance
A stop over to visit Pura Taman Ayun on our way to Beratan Lake. Pura Taman Ayun means temple of beautiful gardens. An unique architecture as the temple is surrounded by a moat with beautiful lotus

Fruits stalls along the way to Bedugul. They sell but local and "mixed breed" durians. My recommendations, go for the local ones!

Lunch at Saranam Eco Resort, another spectular view of rice terrace. On the right are the resort bunglows.

It was drizzling when we arrive at Beratan Lake. The Ulun Danu Temple is not accessible as the lake water covers the walkways during the rainy season.

There are lots of galleries in Ubud. We visit the Antonia Blanco Gallery. Impressive courtyard, museum and they even preserve the artist's studio.

The must try, Ibu Oka Babi Guling or roasted pig. Generous portion of meat and fried parts. After dinner, its time for local entertainment, the Legong Dance.

Bali Day 4: Legong Dance

  4. Goa Gaja, Elephant Cave
  5. Gunung Kawi
  6. Dinner @ Lotus Cafe
Morning tea at the balcony.

Offerings, a daily routine for the Balinese.

Harvesting.

A trip to Sukawati Market is a must. This is a big market catered for the locals. Bargain hard is a must.

You will see this offerings everywhere.

Bebek Bengil or Dirty Duck Diner. There's a nice padi field behind the restaurant.

Monkey Forest. Beware of your bottles and food.

Goa Gaja, Elephant Cave

Gunung Kawi.

To view the relief, you will need to walk down a long flight of stairs. But the rice terrace long the route is simply rewarding.
