Tiong Bahru Estate 中峇鲁

Something wrong with posting today...the tool bar is missing! emmm then it can back...!

Anway we went down to Tiong Bahru today for makan and found that the market has shifted back to the original place with parking on the third story, food court on the second and the wet market on the ground floor. I am glad that they have more parking slots now as coming here for GOOD food is a hassle on weekends when u have to wait for parking lots!

The food court was great! It was spacious and with ample seatings. We had Kuay Chap and porriage...check out niu niu face! And on each table, there's a url link to the website where you can locate the stalls. Even they gone online...

Next a walk around the estate. The estate was built in the 1930s to provide mass housing in Singapore. It is one of the oldest estate here. The flats here have a mixture of shophouse cum art deco style. In the picures, the flats also have rounded balconies, round windows design and some have spiral staircases at the back. I I heard some even have underground shelters!

As you see, a lot of the units have aircons units and new tinted windows fitted. They really looked ugly as they just does not blend into the style....anyway I guess it's just unavoidable.

For rent....A peep at the interior. View

Cool grills!

Look at the architecture, so similar to the tower on the aircraft carrier deck!

As we walk down toward SGH, a no. of shop houses are going thru a renovation stage.
A full block are going to be turned into a Boutique hotel. Read more.

Simply more interesting architecture...

Okie..it's hot and niu niu is almost fainting...will check out this estate again.
