Taiwan Day 8

The Ximending Station greets us again. Our gateway to the other parts of Taipei. The area looks pretty deserted in the morning as compared to the buzzling night scene.

Was suppose to head to Yuanshan station on the red line but ended up at Nanshijiao, the last station on the yellow line.

Chance brought me here, might as well explore the area and have lunch. Was greeted with row after rows of bicycle when we exit the station. The area surrounding the station are lined up with shop houses.

Walked down one of the street. lots of eateries and shops. Popped by one of the 便當 (lunch box) shop and ordered a house special. The NT$60 meal comes with free drinks and soup!

An hour later, finally reached my destination, Taipei Fine Arts Museum. The museum is closed at 5.30pm daily except Saturday where opening hours is extended to 8.30pm. There a special exhibit on Pixar, 20th Years if Animation.

To get to the museum, take the MRT to Yuanshan station on the red line. The museum is around 15mins walk.

Very simple with structure comprises 3 levels of exhibition halls. There a cafe in the basement.

The museum is for everyone.

There are a no. of school visits to the museum and they come in big groups.

Next to the museum is Taipei Story House. A unique building that seems out of place. It was built in 1914 by an aristocratic tea trader after a house he saw in Paris Expo. The building is currently use as an exhibition space.

Walking back to Yuanshan station.

If you walk in the opposite direction, there are 2 more attractions to be discovered, Taipei Confucius Temple and Bao An Temple. Before you reach the 2 temple, you will pass by a local community.

Opposite the temple, there's a market with lots of eateries.

My favorite is still Bao An temple. Intricate architecture and interior deccor.

There are different deity in their respective halls.

Heading back to Ximending. View from the station platform.

Nite activity in Taiwan = a visit to its Night market.
Feature here is Gongguang nite market at Gongguan MRT station.
