Backing up

We had a 1TB HD failure this week and it will cost us SGD$1500 to recover the data! With the ever increasing Mega Pixels competition in new digital cameras and the ever storage hungry HD movie clips, our old 100Gig storage is time for a replacement.

I cannot imagine losing all of Megan's photo and movie clips, especially those that document her birth. Harddisk do fail and the dvds/cds that you rely on could alreday have a read error. If you are reading this, you can be the next victim.

Consider getting a NAS, one of the most affordable around is the Dlink network storage. Interested? read more here. The other option is to get a hardisk dock similar to the one below. They come with USB, eSATA and Firewire transfer option. When a HD is full, simply place a new one in!
